Who We Are

The Message Uganda will be launched in 2025. It will be The Message Trust’s second African hub.

The Message, was founded in the UK by Andy Hawthorne in 1988, with a vision to share the good news of Jesus with the hardest-to-reach young people and communities in word and action. Message Uganda is part of a growing international movement which we call The Message Family.

From our base in Kampala, we have a vision to impact at risk youth in tough communities across the city and beyond. Through word and action our gospel-centred strategy will provide hope to young people and communities. As we do this, we believe God will transform lives as people discover their true identity in him.

Our Vision

We’re passionate about raising up generations of Urban Heroes (youth from the margins) who find hope and purpose in Jesus.

We want to see young people becoming Urban Heroes who are people of faith, positive role models, leading healthy lifestyles, economically active and not only have their lives transformed by Jesus but by sharing their story and the gospel with those around them, they see the lives of others transformed too, creating a ripple effect of change in their families, communities and nation.

We work with the hardest to reach young people from the ages of 9 – 35 years through preventative work in communities and re-entry intervention work with prisoners, ex-offenders and those caught up in gangsterism. Each year, we get to know and work with thousands of young people and it’s amazing to see all that God’s doing.
